Espíndola will look to warm up a D.C. United offense and the Gateway United offense. He's widely expected to get opportunities and minutes with the hope being that he can provide both United's with the offensive punch. Espindola was a big piece of some of Real Salt Lake’s successful years. While his role was reduced toward the back half of 2013 under Mike Petke, he finished with 9 goals. That’s not bad.
After weeks of talks Gateway United has completed a deal with Union SC sending the clubs 2nd round draft pick and $10 of acqusition money to California in exchange for a 3rd Designated Player slot. The trade paves the way for Gateway United to sign Federico Higuain to a DP contract. "The Saints are pleased to have Higuain remain with the club." Gateway United has now reached the 4 player signing limit for the offseason and will begin preparations for the BSL Draft.
