Match Build Up for Week 4

Busy with plenty of midweek maneuvers, the Saints will take the field against Alliance F.C. in the first leg of this years Barium Cup looking to continue their dominance. "This is our cup!".

Saints Trade Press Release

It look some time, but Gateway United has completed a deal with Gold Coast FC to receive Federico Higuain. "It cost us 3 players and there were moments when it looked like the deal would not get done, but ultimately both sides came to an agreement."

The news also means that Gateway United now needs to sign some free agents in order to fill out a full roster. Just inked to contracts are Ramiro Corrales-SJ, and Glauber-CLB.

Early Deficit Overcome

Gateway United fell behind early once again at the start of the match. Its become a trend to give up early goals and has forced the Saints to play catch up throughout each match. The other issue has been the stagnant offense which has not delivered on the scoreboard. With help from the bottom of the payroll, Gateway United mounted a second half comeback including clutch scores from Jacobson and Avila on Sunday to defeat Gold Coast FC.

Match Build Up for Week 3

There has not been much to be excited about in the first 2 weeks of the 2013 season. Gateway United's record only tells part of the story. The Saints have fallen behind early in both matches and have yet to possess a lead. Not even for a single minute. Panic is not in the vocabulary for this club. Its only 2 games. However, there is concern over the lack of bite the club has shown so far.

Next up the Saints will play Gold Coast. The Sacramento club appears to also be feeling concern over its poor start and has been making roster moves by the plenty. The Suns are claiming a new philosophy. Sit back and play for the counter attack. It's working for the Montreal Impact. Will it work in the BSL? So far defeating Gold Coast has come easy for the Saints outscoring this opponent 22-6 in previous matches. Hopefully, this is just the kind of momentum that will jump start the campaign.

Another Poor Showing

Gateway United looked over matched in week 2 as the club could only muster a single score.

Match Build Up for Week 2

The medical staff has determined that Saints defender Jay Demerit will be sidelined for 6 to 8 months. With this news the club was forced to release him. With the available roster space Gateway United will be signing back up goal keeper Donovan Ricketts to a contract who's services will be needed right away for game 2 of the season.

Early Deficit Too Much

Gateway United got pounded in the early moments of the opening match against Spartans 1612 falling behind in the first few moments with a huge deficit of 4 points. The match calmed down from there, but the lead proved to be too much. "Its not ideal to have to come from behind by such a wide margin so quickly." said the Saints owner. Nagbe and Plata were the games scorers for the Saints.

Keon Daniels to be a Saint

Pending any unforeseen oversights by the Saints, Keon Daniel will be joining Gateway United once his acquisition papers are approved by the league.

Daniel's will be filling in the roster space of Brian Boswell who is being dropped in this move. No word yet from the Saints on whether Daniels will be a starter in week 2.

Match Build Up for Week 1

Gateway United begins its 5th anniversary tomorrow when the first match of the season commences. Being a vocal supporter of the reserve rule, the Saints are happy to see its return after a 1 year absence. The Saints have announced tomorrow's line up with no surprise that Landon Donovan will be watching from the booth. He is expected to miss at least the first 4 to 6 matches in the BSL schedule. The club is 3-1-0 in season openers historically. The Saints will go with a 5F-3M-2D formation.
