PRESS RELEASE
Gateway United has signed 12 of the 15 players the club plans begin the 2013 season with. Sean Franklin and Brian Boswell were signed as the first defenders for the club. "We will be keeping a close eye on several defenders once the season starts to determine if adjustments will need to be made. Its an exciting change having this addition to the clubs formation, but it will take a few weeks to determine how many are warranted or worthy of a place on the roster. I would say the clubs that learn quickest on how to take advantage of defenders will probably be the playoff teams in the end." said the Saints owner. Currently only Michael Gspurning is on the Saints roster as a Goal Keeper. A backup is probable, but Gspurning will be the starter.

Two Signings Today
Also signed today was Juan Agudelo. With another year of maturity, and a vocal new head coach expecting the world from him, Agudelo will have a lot of pressure on him to put the ball in the back of the net.

Cooper Shipped Out
PRESS RELEASE
After earlier discussions fell apart with Alamo City to deal the rights on Kenny Cooper, an agreement has finally been hampered out sending the forward to Texas for a first round pick. Cooper has been a journeyman as of late, but is a proven scorer and was worth holding onto to obtain a low draft pick for his release, in the event he does have any gas left in his tank. The decision to release him was made much much earlier than this trade as Gateway United had no intentions of renewing his contract as was detailed when the club signed Darlington Nagbe away from Rose City. "We made our decision on the next generation, and wish Cooper well" said the Saints owner. Gateway United now has the 8th and 9th overall picks in the upcoming BSL draft.

Donovan Expected Back For Saints
PRESS RELEASE
Even though the date of his arrival back is still unknown, Landon Donovan will return to play for the Saints for a fifth season and was signed this morning as Gateway United's 2nd Designated Player. LD looked unmotivated at times in 2012, but still put up quality numbers for the Saints helping win the club the Honors Trophy. Previous to his break this off season, he had played non stop for 2 years with loans and league matches. With any luck he will return fresh and re-energized.
