Better Play, A Similiar Result

SAINTS 5 BLUES 5

In an epic battle against Union SC, the Saints needed a last minute Marco Pappa goal to earn the clubs 4th tie of the season. "Its nice to get some sort of result but sooner or later these ties have to start becoming wins." All around the club performed well but one cause for concern is watching Jeff Cunningham riding the bench. Is this a short term situtation or will his minutes be limited for the duration of the season? The man of the match was Bouna Coundoul. His 2 points was the difference.

Match Build Up: Game 11

10 games down 10 games to go. The situation is simple for Gateway United and that is to start picking up maximum points. The next opponent is a perfect opportunity to make up ground quickly. Union Southern California is holding onto 3rd place and a win would really shake up the league.

REPORTER: Are you ready for your next match?
GATEWAY UNITED: Its really hard to tell, but we've made some changes like adding Chris Pontius to the mix.
REPORTER: Are you focusing on the Majors Cup table or the League table at this point?
GATEWAY UNITED: Thankfully the club is still in a position to be focused on making the playoffs and look forward to qualifying for the Majors Cup where the club had a lot of success last season only to fall short in the Final.

Some Welcomed Relief

SAINTS 3 SUNS 1
Just when things were at there lowest for Gateway United along comes something to feel better about. A win! The 3-1 win over Gold Coast wasn't the most impressive but it does give the Saints some optimism. "It's been rough losing games. We had more ties than wins too. Then there was that shut out to the Cure. Basically what I am saying is the mojo has been lost. Our organization hasn't given up nor will we ever give up, but we've lost some of our confidence." as reported by the Saints owner. The Saints are not out of the woods by a long shot. The club still sits in 6th place but at least there is some honor back in the Gateway. Once again Marco Pappa came to play. He really has been one of the few dependable scorers on the club in 2010. Alvarez chipped in a goal finally and Danny Mwanga gave the Saints some insurance.

Match Build Up: Game 10

More changes were made in preparation of this match against Gold Coast. So far little has gone the way of the Saints this season but the committment to winning is still there. "We will keep trying to find the right formula. That's all we can do".

REPORTER: What is the morral surrounding the club right now?
GATEWAY UNITED: Obviously the mood is somber after losing to the Cure and being shut out.
REPORTER: Where does the Club go from here?
GATEWAY UNITED: We just keep plugging away. We try to find a win the next game and try to build some momentum.
